It's Monday! What are you reading? Is a wonderful community of readers, teachers, and librarians. Hosted by Jen over at Teach Mentor Texts along with Kellee and Ricki at Unleashing Readers, participants share their reading adventures from the past week along with their reading plans for the week ahead.
My Monday posts are generally just a highlight of what I've been reading during the week so if you'd like to see all that I've been reading, follow my Goodreads page.
I recently read and loved:
I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys
As always, Ruta Sepeys' attention to detail and her ability to shine a light on moments in history that so few know about is a special gift. In I Must Betray You, she shines a light on the gruesome communist dictatorship in Romania and its ultimate yet complicated end in 1989. Ear Worm! by Jo Knowles, illustrated by Galia Berstein A young worm has a song stuck in his head, which he learns is called an earworm. As he walks along, he meets some friends who are also experiencing their own earworms. This would be a fun book to read to students to have them discuss what earworms they have experienced and also how they get earworms out of their head. My Tree by Hope Lim, illustrated by Il Sung Na

Oh my, these all look incredible. I'm so envious of all who got to read I Must Betray You before it was released. I've heard glowing recommendations all around and I can't wait to dig in! I hope you're enjoying Firekeeper's Daughter. I also read this one with my ears and was totally wow'ed! Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful reading week, Beth!
ReplyDeleteI have the Sepetys book on its way, know I will love it, like every one of hers! Daddy Speaks Love and My Tree are on my list, & I thought Earworm was a lot of fun. Enjoy Firekeeper's Daughter - awesome story. Thanks, Beth!
ReplyDeleteHopefully this year I'll read The Firekeeper's Daughter even though I didn't include it in my Must Read of 2022 list.
ReplyDeleteI just got I Must Betray You, and I cannot wait to start, except...I need to finish the reading I'm already on first! (I get ahead of myself sometimes. LOL) Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteI am gnashing my teeth with envy. I am really looking forward to I Must Betray You. The Fire Keepers Daughter is one of those books I am so excited to see people reading. I might end up having to reread it.
