Originally hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, Jen over at Teach Mentor Texts along with Kellee and Ricki at Unleashing Readers also host a kidlit version of It's Monday! What are You Reading?
My Monday posts are generally just a highlight of what I've been reading
during the week so if you'd like to see all that I've been reading,
follow my Goodreads page.
Last week I reviewed:
The Little Chapel That Stood by A.B. Curtiss, illustrated by Mirto Golino
Current Giveaway:
Forbidden by Kimberley Griffiths Little
Last week I finished reading with my ears:
In a Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis
I would compare In a Handful of Dust to a YA version of The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Talk about
intense. Even more so than Not a Drop to Drink.
Currently (still) reading:
Demon Derby by Carrie Harris
I'm enjoying this one, but I've just been super busy this past week. I'm hoping I'll have this finished before the end of the week.
Currently reading with my ears:
Unstoppable Octobia May by Sharon G. Flake
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Bahni Turpin is the narrator of this audiobook, which immediately got me excited because she is my favorite audiobook narrator of all time. I'm not that far into this story though so I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
This was a hard week for me to get much reading done. Only picture books and one MG! I love the book windfall weeks when all the stars align and there's lots of reading that happens :) Good luck finishing more!
ReplyDeleteThese books look great! I have Unstoppable Octobia May on my TBR list, so I am interested to hear what you think about it later.
ReplyDeleteNew to me are the two books by Mindy McGinnis, Beth. Thank you for those titles. I know my students will enjoy them.
ReplyDeleteI just perked up when I read Bahni Turpin's name too. She's so good! I am nearly finished with my current audio and needing something new. Might try the Flake novel.
ReplyDeleteThe Unstoppable Octobia May sits atop (one of) my TBR pile(s). Curious to hear your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI don't know any of these Beth! (Well, except Unstoppable because you mentioned it on FB.) Maybe I'll try to get that audiobook from my library :)
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week! :)
All of these books are new to me! I liked your review of The Little Chapel that Stood. What an amazing story!
ReplyDeleteSuch diverse titles here. In a Handful of Dust looks really interesting - striking cover.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up The Unstoppable Octobia May last week at the bookstore, but am not sure when I will get to it. Looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe Little Chapel that Stood caught my eye. And yes, Unstoppable Octobia - I shall look for it.
