It's Monday! What are you reading? 3-21-16

It's Monday! What are you reading? Is a wonderful community of readers, teachers, and librarians. Hosted by Jen over at Teach Mentor Texts along with Kellee and Ricki at Unleashing Readers, participants share their reading adventures from the past week along with their reading plans for the week ahead.

My Monday posts are generally just a highlight of what I've been reading during the week so if you'd like to see all that I've been reading, follow my Goodreads page.

*Sigh* Moving into a new house has certainly messed with my reading life this week. I'm so busy unpacking boxes and arranging furniture that I've been neglecting reading. (Also: among the unpacked boxes and  unorganized mess of furniture, brick-a-brac and unhung pictures, I can't seem to find the book I've been reading for the past three weeks. So there's that.) So here's a very short It's Monday! post for you.

Author interview + giveaway:

The Typewriter by Bill Thomson

I finished reading with my ears:

Paperweight by Meg Haston
If you liked Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson or Perfect by Natasha Friend, this book would be up your alley.

Picture books I read last week:

Treat by Mary Sullivan
If I Had A Gryphon by Vikki VanSickle, illustrated by Cale Atkinson

Currently (still) reading

The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith

Currently reading with my ears:

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
Proof of Forever by Lexa Hillyer

  1. Good luck with the unpacking and organizing. Makes me tired just to think of it. Come see my reading week here. Happy reading!

  3. When we moved last fall, one of my library books was packed away with our books. In our new place we don't have as many book shelves as we did there. I renewed the missing book as many times as I could and kept looking everywhere I could think. It eventually showed up. Unfortunately, we still don't have enough book shelves.

  4. I think I would enjoy Paperweight, but won't get to it soon. I have so many books on the "pile". Thanks for sharing the picture books new to me, Beth. I hope you're loving your new home!

  5. Happy unpacking! It will be like a present when you find your book! Hope it's not too long :)
I put Treat on hold at the library. It looks fun.

  6. Treat is a funny little book, very expressive illustrations. I love one-word picture books, like "Moo", it's fascinating for kids to see how much can be expressed with just one word and some expressive pictures!

  7. I am glad Paperweight turned out well! I like the books you compared it with, so I will have to get it. Most important, I am glad to hear the house is coming along. I laughed when I saw your comment on Facebook (or was it Instagram?) that it no longer is looking like an episode of Hoarders. :)
