I actually finished some novel-length books last week! It's been so long since I've done that, I was starting to think I'd never finish a book again.
Last week I finished:
Twerp by Mark Goldblatt
See Me After Class: Advice for Teachers, by Teachers by Roxanna Elden
Picture books I read and enjoyed last week:
Trout! Trout! Tout! (A Fish Chant) by April Pulley Sayre, illustrated by Trip Park
Squeak, Rumble, Whomp! Whomp! Whomp!: A Sonic Adventure by Wynton Marsalis, illustrated by Paul Rogers
Bluebird by Bob Staake
Martin de Porres: The Rose in the Desert by Gary D. Schmidt, illustrated by David Diaz
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz
I'm only a few pages in and I already get why everyone loves this book. One conversation between Ari and his mom in the kitchen and I already love them both. I think this book is going to get me out of my reading funk. I have high hopes.\
Last week I reviewed:
Requiem by Lauren Oliver
Some interesting reads you've got there. I've had the Delirium series on my TBR list since it came out, but just haven't got around to it for some reason...so many books, so little time!ReplyDelete
It's Monday @ The Reading Realm
How can I resist Aristotle and His Mother? Off to Amazon to add it to my wishlist!ReplyDelete
Here's my It's Monday!
Oops! Correction: Aristotle and Dante.ReplyDelete
You had a great week. You also reminded me that See You After Class and Aristotle and Dante... are still on my TBR mountain. Stop by my Monday Report if you get a chance. Happy reading!ReplyDelete
Can't wait to read Aristotle and Dante. Glad to hear is living up to the hype. http://wp.me/pzUn5-1vsReplyDelete
OOh, I've got Twerp and have been meaning to read it. I love Squeak, Rumble, Whomp Whomp Whomp. Such a fun book to read aloud.ReplyDelete
The Bluebird book looks very pretty, & I've heard it's good, Beth. Also need to get to Aristotle & Dante-you did read a lot last week! Thanks!ReplyDelete
I have See Me After Class in my pile to read, too. She was at a new teacher conference I went to but we had to catch our flight so I didn't get to see her speak. My friend, Reyna, really loved her book! I also snagged Requiem from the library but haven't found time to dive in yet!ReplyDelete
Beth - Can't wait to see what you think of Aristotle and Dante when you are done - it is one of my favourites this year!ReplyDelete
Have Twerp cued up, glad to know that I need to be persistent with it... I look forward to reading Aristotle and Dante soon! Happy reading week to you!ReplyDelete
I love your books! I had to add Twerp to my to read list.ReplyDelete
Squeak, Rumble, Whomp! Whomp! Whomp! looks like something I would enjoy too.
Aristotle and Dante will DEFINITELY get you out of your funk. It's such a great book. I read it a couple of weeks ago and still think about it.
