This week, book lovers took to Twitter in droves using the hashtag #WeNeedDiverseBooks to address the need for more diversity in the publishing world. The hashtag was used so much that it was trending on Twitter and it was hard to keep up with all the tweets coming in. One thing is clear from the outpouring of support for this campaign: publishers can no longer hide behind their white, privileged biases. It's time to start representing all facets of our human population, not just the white, able-bodied, heterosexual population.
